My research focuses on complications of type 1 diabetes (T1D), with particular emphasis on diabetic kidney disease. My work combines genetic, metabolomic, and proteomic data to identify biomarkers and genetic risk factors, as well as to better understand disease mechanisms. My recent work has concentrated on conducting genome-wide association studies of urinary metabolites in diverse populations and establishing connections between kidney function decline and clinical outcomes in individuals with T1D.
